Stock Cat Switch Ratio?
Hey Guys,
I got my 8 back and thought that they were going to replace the cat after they thought that the cat was melted.
Apparently not.
On the work order it states:
Am I going to have to get a new cat soon?
Car runs great, better than new. Sounds louder.
Any thoughts would be appreciated?

On the work order it states:
Tested cat before repair switch ratio value 1.527. Performed repairs on line #2, Drove vehicle, 20+ miles to reset values. Cat switch ration now 1.197 Well within specs (spec below 4.5). Possible failure due to misfire and heat condition. Not failing at this time.
I think that they are getting these readings through the 02 sensor.Am I going to have to get a new cat soon?

Getting a smell in cabin
Could this be the smell that is in the cabin.
It's not gas or oil, it's something else?
I only smell it when the fan is turned to recirculate the cabin air.
I didn't smell it before.
Is the cat covered under the 6year/60,000 powertrain warranty, or is it seperate?
My service writer told me they were looking at the RB intake and were hinting that it could be the problem and I should replace the stock intake if I bring it in again.

Magnuson-Moss act
I've been reading up on the Magnuson Moss Act.
I didn't ever think I would have to pull it out.
I've had the Revi for at least three years and they have completed many repairs. And recalls. Even the latest with the misfire and all of this that led up to the cat being burned.
Won't this work in my favor?

When you think about it yes it does.
Not as sickning, but the smell is there.
They did the whole engine mount thing and all all of the fluids, tranny incl.
Could it be something they missed or does it just need to be burnt off?

the smell could be a lot of stuff....any fluid thats sittling on the engine etc......if you think you cat is going just wait for the cel....it will come, then take it to mazda....your cat is actually covered for 80,000 miles via Federal Emissions Law for cars built after 1995
