Starting and Power loss Problem

Starting and Power loss Problem
Can anyone advise of what may be wrong with my car.
When starting the car finds it hard to start when warm! Very juttery and also jutters when it is idleing.
When driving sometimes i can have my foot flat to the gas in 2nd gear and the car just doesnt move! (note not just in 2nd gear) In some cases of it doing this, the engine will just cut out, then its nearing impossible to start!
any suggestions?

You probably have SEVERE compression loss.
Mileage and year? How many miles on the coils, on the plugs, and on the wires?
Other options can include clogged cat, e-shaft sensor fouled, MAF sensor fouled.
Hot start problems are usually compression though.

had the AA out yesterday who did a few tests and they said most definitely the CAT gone.
its 2004REG, 70,000 miles, its due for a service, dont think plugs and coil packs have been changed too recently if at all.
Roughly how much are we looking at for a compression problem ?
thanks for your reply

i think that cud be alot of the things, a cat cud be one of them. compression, spark plugs, wires, coils. if just one side is firing and not the other ull get that too. u can rent a compression tester from auto zone tho and check urself from the driver side wheel well with the car jacked up and the tire off
