Starter replacement Clarification
Hey guys, I know this seems something kinda stupid, but I'm going to replace the starter motor, as the car has some issues starting from time to time and I already have a newer starter motor, so why not..
Now, my only question is when you disconnect the battery, I should assume I need to have the ECU Idle reset when I disconnect the battery, yes?
I've seen some say to disconnect your battery, reconnect it, and then turn the steering wheel, to push the brake pedal at least a dozen times until the oil gauge does a sweep and then start and let it idle.
What is the correct way to actually reset the idle? I can't seem to get a straight answer looking all over the internet, as much as it has all this information, it's also confusing for me.
Do I even need to worry about the car struggling to idle/stall after a battery disconnect? Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it!

the 20 brake stomp where the oil gauge sweeps resets the ess. as far as the idle it doesnt always need to be reset and if so a few drive cycles is all thats needed. turning the steering wheel resets the eps

Ah okay, thank you for clearing that up, would any of the procedures be necessary then after the installation? Or is the idle about the only thing I have to worry about?
Sorry for all the questions too I just want to be sure

disconnect battery swap starter (10min job) hook it back up and start the car. are your starting troubles because of low compression? which starter is in it now? are you replacing it with the bigger 2.0kw starter or a series 2 one?

I'm swapping the starter cause it's been sitting around really, but I have been having some issues starting and I've noticed the more times I've start it the lower the crank speeds seem, so I believe the old one is dying. I am replacing it with a 2.0KW, not a series 2. Manual too.
