starter is ticking, car won't start

so my starter when attempting to start the car only sits there and ticks. I have ruled out a dead battery and also the connection on the starter. the car being an 04, is it possible the starter is dead all together ?? if so any place to pick one up cheap ??

I don't think the starter ticks when it's shot! The car only does that when the battery is dead try jumping it

There is a bendix solenoid that clicks when it doesn't engage.

It ticks when the battery is dead or when the solenoid is broke.

Batteries can wear out every two years, even if it is a 4yr battery.

Charge the battery or put the charger on it then crank.

If it works when the charger is on, then it is the battery.

Good thing to do... never start a car with the A/C on.

thanks a bunch guys. i tooke the starter off this morning breifly and cleaned up the connection that sits in the plastic houseing, however the stud that sits in that starter was snapped during removal so now i am looking into a new stud. i will try the battery terminals again and i have been starting it with the a/c on so that could be a problem too. thanks again guys

Gah you had it off lol? can just take it to auto parts store and bench test. If it ticked on the bench test it's done. Have you tried jump start or booster?
