I then filled up with V-power last week, and it appears my MPG is back where I had it before, but I think I need to try a couple more tankfuls to see if it really is the gas, or just my driving patterns.
Well, I filled up yesterday, and my mileage turned out to be 21.7, the highest I've seen (I've got about 4000 miles now). I'll update to see what it does with more city driving since this last tank was almost all back roads in the country.

Gas mileage

I just turned 1000 miles been using v power since new...havent seen much over 16 mpg in relaxed mixed cycle driving(hghwy/local).
id be surprised if i ever see 20mpg, just the nature of the beast. besides who buys an rx8 for gas mileage???

I noticed gas milage sorta goes up if you drive sorta hard ... not like racing hard .. but errr iono how to explain it ... just not slow driving ... can anyone confirm that slow driving makes gas milage worst ? (Like keeping the RPM extra low ~3000 RPM all the time) ... I noticed if I shift early and stay around 3000-4000 rpm , my gas milage sucks .... anyone can confirm this ?

I noticed the same thing...baby the car and milage sucks...drive it the way it was meant to be driven and milage improves...go figure!!! :D I love it!!!

More specifically for me

.. being in Arizona I use the AC (bad as it may be) quite a bit.. HOWEVER.. when I have the AC on, I actually notice that I get substantial (2-4) mpg gains! In the winter I get 17-18, in the summer 20-23.. I've busted 310m/tank a few times in the summer.. it may be the heat/humidity difference, maybe, but I definately notice it...

I also notice the random 4th gear along the highway tanks (4500+ rpm) last longer than the low rpm tanks.. very strange.. maybe the richness of the ecu is worse than we all assume?

man rotary engines are weird .... Vpower actually makes it have higher MPG and driving hard gets you better MPG ... and once in a while redlining it is good to burn off some carbon build up ... I love rotaries lol 8)

I saw a thread on here that said if you want optimal MPG you should keep it between 3K to 4K rpm

I get about 240 miles out of 14 gallons (50/50, city/highway and keep it between 3K to 4K rpm) however thats using chevron 91 octane. I'll use shell V next fill up and report my results.

FYI,

I just got 390 miles off of 23.2 gallons of V-power. That's 16.8 mpg, which is about the same if not worse than normal gas.

next...

With about 13.75gallons I did 285 miles, on a highway trip. Thats about 20.5mpg I have about 8k miles on my rx8. I think its pretty good...

I wanna try to break the 300miles barrier with a single tank:o...

i have used only sunoco 2x and mobile premiums the rest of the time. the v-power site compares it to discount fuels, but how does it compare to the mobiles and sunocos. I have always heard mobile has the best gas and sunoco was 2nd best
