Funny you should ask...
There's a big thread on this in a sticky at the top of this forum..."Clutch pedal snap off." There are actuall three known causes:
1. The clutch pedal bracket has cracked, and will soon break. See post #1344 in that thread for a link to diagnostic procedure. Fix is a new bracket, covered under extended warranty SSP82.
2. The clutch cut switch is defective. There's a TSB on that...look for the sticky thread with all of the TSBs. No warranty, but you can just remove the switch and jumper the connector.
3. A bushing where the spring pivots on the bracket can fail. That happened to me. See post #1345 for details on that.
If it's #3, a dab of grease might do the trick. Personally, I wouldn't start randomly squirting WD40.
