spark plug analysis please?

Just changed out my plugs today and would appreciate some comments These were supposed to have been changed by the dealer when I bought the car a year ago, but looking at them that doesn't seem to likely. Anyway, thoughts?

Looks like you need a new set...they are worn...and kinda crapped out.

The color is OK...not oil fouled or anything....just had it!

Might need a few more WOT burns on your car though

yep i put in a new set. the slightly worn electrodes seem to indicate they were in too long, and the baked on crap could be ash from the oil injection?

^^ Yup, oil injection leaves those deposits. As stated before, your engine needs a little bit more redline time. As for the dealer... well that's what you get trusting the dealer to work on your car.

Does anyone using the Sohn OMP adaptor and 2 stroke oil have a picture of their plugs?

Yeah I learned that lesson pretty quick that's why I am doing all the maint. myself now... Slightly off topic, but coils and plugs really cleaned up alot of the hesitation issues I've been having. Car feels great again

Might want to check the coils if you have more than 50K on the car...they seem to crap out as well. Plug wires tend to be a bit suspect at that mileage as well

I wouldn't trust my Mazda dealer in Orangeville to wipe my ***.
My plugs looked the same after 35,000km maybe a bit more on the white side. Any ideas on that? Running hot?

Anyways I would expect to change my plugs every 30,000km at least.

Not as bad as mine, but I premix like a bitch (8-12oz), so maybe thats why

now I cut it down to 4 oz, hell I might do the adapter thing soon. then we'll see what happens.

I'd think that premix would have less to do with the ash buildup than the dirty *** engine oil... I premix 7oz, but only started very recently. I'll keep checking the plugs and see what they look like...

On another note, if I ever find the person who last installed plugs in my car I'll buy them a beer. After reading some horror stories on here I was afraid they were going to be impossible to get out, but they ended up coming out quite easily. Anti-seize FTMFW!

I just snapped a photo of my old plugs. But I'm not so sure how fair a comparison they are since:

1. I don't use OEM plugs. I use the colder RX-7 ones.
2. I'm turbocharged. And I run it hard.
3. I change my plugs once a year.
4. I run the Sohn adaptor with 2 stroke oil.
5. I use FP and LC additives.

Anyway, here it is. It's hard to tell from the photo, but it's solid black, or light color. They don't look grungy like the OP's plugs.

Im using 2 steps colder plugs now. After 10 K miles, Im gonna pull it out to look at it. I expect it to be a lot worst than stock heat range.

but it pulls harder than stock tho.

Then Im gonna use the 6 heat range plugs again.

too cold would make sense. Most of the time a turbo car isn't going to be driven in boost.

If you ignore the plug range then it looks like you have a lot less of the deposits from oil so typical on our plugs
