Something Wrong...Pop in right wheel and now lots of rust.

Here is what happened. I have had my 8 for 3 months now, 3K, and lately it has been raining alot. I parked my car in the garage after driving it in the rain. The next day I go to pull out with my wheels turned to the left and I hear the crack sound from the right front wheel area and the car jolts as if something was stuck.
Checked to see if I ran over anything, but found nothing. Drove it to work in the rain (again) and it seemed fine. I went to wash it today and the right front wheel is completly covered in rust inside and out. It obviously dripped from somewhere and was all over the wheel and tire. It came off easily, but the other 3 wheels had NO rust at all. I get some usual rust on the inside of the rims, but this was way more than usual. Something happened and I can't figure out what. It was almost like something was rusting for a while and finally broke free.
This happen to anyone? I searched, but couldn't find this specific problem.

What most likely happened was that the front wheel shifted slightly while bolted to the front wheel hub. There is a TSB concerning front wheel noise that tells the dealer to remove the wheels and remove the paint from the wheel hub where it contacts the back side of the wheels.

no offense to you zoom44, since you are a mod, but I have never had a car where the parking brake was on the front wheels. All my cars have always been on the rear and he said his problem was on the front. On the same note as parking brakes, is the 8 parking brake a hydraulic control of the rear caliper or is it a shoe in drum type of setup.

I had the exact same thing happen to me last week. Its apparently just one of the brake pads stuck to the rotor. I didn't notice more rust drips than usual (sure are plenty though). Probably gets some water wick'd between the pad and rotor.
