thats the approximate rpm (revolutions per mile) that we should see with our tire stock tire size according to the math. but we all know that math is never wholly accurate......hehe
There's also the phenomenon of the decreased circumference of the tire as the tread gets worn, making the apparent milage even higher then it really is..

My GPS tells me that I'm going 77.5 when my speedometer says 80.

thats a big difference there, about 3.125%.

the difference from the actual to what is expected is only -0.57% difference, meaning that what the car see's vs actual, you would actually be going faster than the speedo says you are by about .57%, so as the tires wear, it comes correct, then as they wear further, you are going slower than what the speedo says, so it all balances out.

if you lose 1/4 of tire tread due to wear, that reduces the overall height of the tire by 1/2 inch, thats only 1.925 % difference in the number of rotations per mile.

that makes me think your tires are really worn..........lol

OverLOAD,

Yeah - I'm planning on having the revs/mile thing available to change in our "Tuner" edition. :D

Cheers,

Well it is Monday morning at figging 3:30 am and I am trying to do more work to finish off the user manual. Not that you need it - it is pretty intuitive. Perhaps I should post it sometime

Cheers,
Hymee.

And the engine load is also available as a std OBDII value. It is calculated from a number of things, like the MAF / TPS and RPM, and reported as a %.

Uh-oh..

Perhaps your missing what I'm saying here..

Since everyone is breaking out the 40 digit precision math, perhaps I need to repeat what I said in a different way.

I had a brand new pair of tires on the rear wheels when I measured this. My CAR SPEEDOMETER said 80 mph.
My handheld GPS said 77.5 mph consistently over 20 seconds or so. I take this speed as accurate. Since the time base comes from atomic clocks in the GPS satellites, and the positional error was under 15 feet, with a drift of less then 1 ft/s, then we can postulate:

The car's speedometer is: (80-77.5)/77.5 * 100% = 3.23% fast.
This means if you drove 100 REAL MILES, the car would say 103.2 miles travelled.

Thus your warranty would expire about 1612 miles before it acutally got to the 50,000 mile warranty. This is also not taking into account the additional difference that the tire tread wear would add. This would make an even bigger difference, probably up to another couple of percentage points. Since The above should have made my point, I'll leave this up for someone else to estiamte actual changes due to the tire wear.

I don't know about you, but that's a pretty significant difference to me.

Regards,

OverLOAD

edit: Hymee, That's what I want! Superb!

The big announcement.

The time is here!

It gives sco and myself great pleasure to formally announce to you all that sCANalyer Live 1.0 will officially go on public sale on Thursday, 26th May 2005.

We have a few extra goodies to include with the product, so I am going to announce them here, along with the price.

Price:
$249 USD will be our "on-line" price when ordered via the Hymee Enhanced website. The transactions will be via PayPal, using your choice of currency (as provided by PayPal). Credit cards accepted. Most of our costs are associated with the hardware, and we purchase those high quaility components with USD. So we have decided to price the unit in USD.

(Note: European customers must order via our exclusive European distributor at http://www.enginepsd.com/Hymee.htm)

What you get:
Hardware
  • 1 x OBDII cable
  • 1 x Diagnostic Interface
  • 1 x serial cable.

Software
  • sCANalyser Live 1.0 (On CD). All the current functionality as delivered to our sucessful Beta program.
  • Plus sCANalyser Live 1.1 Beta (On CD)

Decal-ware
A Hymee Enhanced computer cut vinyl decal

Maintenance
  • Free updates to 1.0 for bug fixes etc, freely downloadable via the internet.
  • Free updates to 1.1 Beta as more functionality goes in, freely downloadable via the internet.
  • Free upgrade to 1.1 final release when we RTM.

sCANalyser Live 1.1
All what is in 1.0, but some even more impressive things...
New features include, but not limited to:
  • Up to Double the Data Rate of 1.0 (live gauges and logging). Our serial hardware and software protocols allows sCANalyser Live 1.1 to log up to 6 distinct PIDS every 40 milliseconds (approx). That is twice as fast as 1.0 (80 ms). The same hardware as shipped with 1.0 is used.
  • Full Screen Mode. Great for use on a NAV display.
  • Extended Mazda PIDS. Such as Fuel Pulse Width, Knock Retard plus loads more. Sco has posted a list of these on this forum. (Not in the first beta release, but to follow as development progresses.)
  • More neat stuff as we see fit.

A few other things you might be interested to know:

USB
Modern laptops generally dont have a Serial (COM) port. We will offer a "Hymee Approved" USB - Serial converter at near cost price. Details to be confirmed. Our current opinion on this is that normal serial is better for direct connection to PDA's, and our current plan is to release a PDA version of sCANalyser Live in the not too distanct future. We have a USB capable diagnostic interface in engineering design at the moment to cater for with future demand.

Registered Trademark
The Hymee Enhanced brand (logo) has been formally lodged as a Trademark. :D , way-cool!

Website / On-line store
The website will be cut-over on Thursday, our release date. I will make a post here when it is ready, but I guess some of you will be checking periodically anyway Initially it will only be for sCANalyser Live, but I will soon migrate my existing order processing system for other products to there as well.

Beta Testers
Sco and myself would like to sincerely thank those members who assisted in the beta program. You have been honoured (using your forum nic) in the 1.0 release, and I'm sure you already know where.:D The others will find that out soon enough. If you haven't found out where that is in the product, then you didn't test thoroughly enough!

We would also like to thank those who have provided moral support to us during this exciting development project.

Please support your fellow forum members, myself and sco, by getting behind this fantastic, high quality product. Remember, I started here as an totally enthusiastic RX-8 owner, just like the rest of you. Somehow, over time, I have become a "vendor" on this site. I gives me a great sense of satisfaction to be able to bring you top quality stuff at affordable prices. The best satisfaction I get is the knowledge that you enjoy your cars, and the products I put out helps you to enjoy them even more.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Edit - forgot to mention the Hymee Enhanced decal!

It is great to see such enthusiasm. Calm down. Take a big breath.

To answer your question, go back and read the bit under the "Price:" heading

"Hear Hear" Hymee. It feels so good to get this out the door and I'm really pleased to be sharing all this hard work with you all. This all started with Hymee and I saying we thought we could do a better job on Scan Tool software than what was out there.

Here's a sample data capture I took the other day with the new faster sample rate. Time is in millseconds, so you can see most samples are 40msec apart. Some take a little longer.

as critical as I may have been at times - I must congratulate you on your work and contribution to the community.

Is the upcomming PDA version for the windows PDA's or Palm based ones? I'd be very interested in a windows version PDA program with logging capability and maybe even a guage window to look at.

To get this all in one place, wo/searching the 25 thread pages, could you post some interface pics here of the released version and v1.1 beta improvements as well?

Interested to see it is serial (my lap has serial), what is the port data rate?

If all this is too much and will be the site anyway, it's Ok if you just let me wait...just anticipating :D

not that it matters because i am going to be buying one of these anyway, but will this allow you to make any changes to anything, or is this just a monitoring device?
