TX Single Oil Cooler

I recently purchased this single Fluidyne oil cooler that will sit front and center perfectly at the bottom of the radiator. My factory coolers have seen 100,000 miles of road debris without screens and are banged to ****. So they will be removed and the space used for brake ducting.

Anyway, I will have the fittings and hoses made at a local hydraulics shop after I measure everything and determine the shortest route for the the lines.

Opinions welcome.

This cooler has #12 AN fiitings, is made of heavy Gauge aluminum. The unit measures 28" x 5" x 5 1/4" and has 6 rows of cooling tubes.

seriously it looks like something that might work for my FC. Stock FC uses oil cooler like that, except that its shorter. it cools oil much better than the RX-8's "2" oil cooler combine. (stock Rx-7 has gauges to see oil pressure and stuff, its a bit slow, but you can still get the idea)

You would **** if you knew what I paid for it. I was the only bidder. I also got a brand new in the box Setrab (high quality) unit that measures 14" x 6" as a backup. The Setrab has a cooling rating of 20,000 BTU's but it's a little too tall and I'm afraid it will block the radiator too much. But once I get the lines routed and setup for the block I can experiment on the track and see which one performs better.

I will keep this thread updated. Gotta get all the fittings, hoses, and adapters so it may be week or two.

run the lines at the ned of the hard line. Its much easier that way.

just not so sure how you going to route it tho. it will be a pretty long line.

AHH, I was just going to say the same thing looks a bit like an FC oil cooler..

BTW, My Custom Mesh Screens (behind Coolers) works really well, my fans are not cutting in as much and the on/off duration is also longer, so more efficient cooler oil means cooler coolant...and it was 31C today..36 (98F) tomorrow and we are still in spring!!...looks like a long Hot summer...

It looks about twice the thickness of the factory Oil Coolers (5 and 1/4 inches),
my only concern seeing you are not going to use the TWO (I guess you have 2) Factory ones and only your new centre mounted unit would be air flow.

I guess you are mounting this in front of your radiator similar to OD?, but I think he kept the originals still going??...I think?

BTU's mean nothing if you don't have the air flow through Fins...

So you have Oil Cooler, Air Con Condenser and Radiator all sandwiched together...mMmm

suggestion---i run my secondary radiator hanging from the back edge of the front bumper support. This way there is plenty of airflow AND that support acts like a HUGE heat sink. Dont underestimate that.
It will NOT pre warm the a/c condenser or radiator as some may believe. There is a LOT of air moving in that area and whatever heat comes from the cooler will be dissipated.
Great find and idea--I may do something like this myself, just different arrangement.

I will have to look at your pics, that may be a better option. Once I get the bumper off I will have a better idea. I definitely don't want to restrict flow but I have seen inter-coolers that block way more area and those cars don't have cooling issues. I will be addressing the engine coolant as well.

I searched everywhere and i cannot find pics of your cooler. Can you link me or send me pics of how you mounted it. I remember seeing it somewhere but i cannot freakin' find it.

My only comment would be there doesn't seem to be a thermostat to regulate oil flow to the cooler.....

I ran a FC cooler in between the 2 stock ones...and it worked awesome NA..but wouldn't work with the IC on the turbo setup

You can get fittings crimped on to the hard line at a hydraulic place....

No it's flexing because the front rotor symbol is missing.

actually its not flexing at all--if you look very closely i have an adjustment/stabilize rod in the middle of it and i had not adjusted when i took the pics. That little symbol blocks airflow more than some may realize!
And yes that is a radiator but it could be used as an oil cooler also.
