Talking Is the rx8 FLEX FUEL ? ^.^

Alright here is my question, my father in law bought a ford escape 2011 and its branded as "flex fuel", mean that when you fill gaz up it can last 5 days for 60$, but when you put 20$ its only enough for a single day.

Same thing happen with my 8
When i fill 20$ it only during a day, but when i put 60$ it last me the week.
Is it normal that when i fully gas up it last me 5 days, and 20$ only 1 day ?

NO!

Flex Fuel means that it can run on regular gas or E85. It has nothing to do with your gas mileage.

Is it normal when spending $60 on groceries for a week's worth that it lasts you a week and when you only spend $20 for a day's worth it lasts one day?

Use some common sense.

Someone needs to go back to school, hell I don't even know if it can teach you basic logic.

The more gas you buy, the further/longer the car can go before needing to be refilled.

I smell troll.

OK here is the comon sense if you know how to count.

If 20$ is one day, 60$ is 3 day....
But its not... 60 give me 5

You're only missing a couple other factors such as the fact that your driving style can vary day to day, your distance can vary day to day, so forth.

And i drive always the same, i shift at 4k-5k and i use cruise control on the 6th gears on highway at average 120-130km/h.

Ambient air temperature and traffic conditions will cause a variation in mileage.

you most likely have an issue with your car. gas consumption doesn't vary that much.

how many gallons are you getting with those $20?
do you fill up at the same place every time?
how many miles do you drive a week?
Do you drive more or less on the 20 dollar days?
do you drive more at night or day?
is there a fat person int he car with you on the $20 days?
Have you written down your mileage at every fill up to see how much gas you are using?
Were you expecting the car to get better gas mileage because its a rotary powered sports car?
Why is the title of this thread flex fuel?

I recommend putting $13 in and see if that also lasts you a day. My guess == yes.

My guess is that you're not at exactly the same point of "empty" between your two comparisons.

What’s your elevation?
Has it been raining?
Did you eat a hearty meal the night before or maybe a big lunch?
How much do you weigh?
What do you look like?
What are you wearing?
Do you have a sister?

.... Your fuel gauge is not an accurate form of measure, meaning your cant judg your fuel consumption off of when your light comes on or when you hit one of the lines. Also have you looked at Gas prices as of lately, 20.00 worth of gas now is not the same as it was 3 months ago. You need to be measuring off of your Gallons and MPG to average it out not the $$'s you spend. Gas prices fluctuate too much to base your hypothesis off of.

I dont know about you but I dont remember if i have ever put 60. into a tank 40. to 50. yah but 60. thoes are some high prices. that brakes down to 4.28 a gallon if you run your tank almost completely dry...

Edit: or a 1.13'ish per liter

Good point tcole, i will try that, if 13 works then it explains all the thing.
13x5=65

Good point too, IL make these tests. Well 60$ is not that bad compared to our mustang 68, 40$/day loll !
I will put a test pipe in about a week to see if the mpg is better. And maybe a bottle of Lucas octane booster.
