RX-8 Gears and Gear Ratio Calculation, anyone know the number of teeth?

I am trying to write a paper on gear ratios and I would prefer to do it on my car. Now I know how to calculate the gear ratio for the car using a certain formula while driving without having to open up or jack up anything.

The professor wants some sort of above and beyond crap...

So I thought if anyone here has an open tranny laying around or knows the following data: the tooth count on the 6 speed manual tranny? also the tooth count on the differential that is included with the base model (if not then the upgraded one is fine)?

I did a search, I will keep searching for pictures of gears to help make my report more presentable.

I am not trying to say please do my homework, because this is just another set of data that will go along with my gear calculations while driving and of course doing an error analysis when comparing to the manufacturer specs.

Thank you in advance.

Also since I am in an apartment, I do not have access to a car jack, so I cant just lift the car and start turning things. I might end up doing that if no one here can help me with the tooth count by driving to my parents house this weekend.

My guess would be that the diff has a 9 tooth pinion gear and a 40 tooth ring gear. As for the tranny, try searching the internet for the Aisin Y16M transmission.

Does anyone know where I can find a input output shaft tooth count for the AZ6 RX8/Miata/IS200 transmission?

OR how can I calculate the tooth count when I already know the gear ratios...? I would prob still need one of the gear's tooth count, cant have 2 missing variables and one equation. UNLESS (I am still learning about transmissions) the output shaft has the same tooth count, and you just have different input shafts, because then I would only need one gear's tooth count since i have atleast 2 equations at all times with 3 unk variables.
