Rotor tip seal - an idea?

Sure it would.
The "increased pressure" is outward motion. It may only be a few ten thousandths, but moving that force to the "shoulder" of the seal instead of the tip would produce the same effect.

Apart from that outward motion is going to vary dependent on the position of the rotor tip in the housing...
And wear and heat expansion means there's no way in hell you're going to get that accurate enough.

Which is my point.

Wankel spent nearly his entire life trying to figure out how to seal this thing.

It's fairly unlikely that we are going to dismantle the physics here.

It's good to see that my "idea" has promoted some thoughts on this subject. 25 posts seems good to me.

I had not heard of using ceramic seals. I see the pros, what are the cons?
