What is illegal? Having a remote starter, or having it on a manual car, or bypassing the clutch sensor?

I think it's a great idea to have a remote starter due to the fact that I like to warm up my car 5 min in the morning. And usually I carry a lot of stuff, backpack, side bag, and something else on the left hand too. I would have to put everything down properly before sitting in and start the car. I don't wanna jam all the stuff in hastily in my baby, and scratch her all up.

Remote start will defeat the purpose of having the chip on the key to prevent thieves from breaking in. If you want to have remote start, you must leave the key close to the ignition in order to have the car start up. I say its not worth it.,

Local Alarm installer installed a "no-frills" remote start in Jan 2004. It cost me approx $225. You hit your unlock button on Mazda stock remote keyfob 3 times, and it starts. I have an automatic RX-8. He had to hide valet key under dash. I live on Long Island, NY.

Good luck.

As far as the key under the dash.

A person cuts the key so it can't be used if someone were to gain access to it.

Next a relay is used to only get the Immobilizer reading from the cut key

when the remote start is activated. Otherwise a key has to be in the ignition to

start the car. This type of starter kill feature works well it is just a pain to bypass

when installing a remote start.

I am interested in a remote starter. I've gotten a quote from a nearby automotive shop, but I'm sure there are more than one. I only was offered one choice (because you can't remotely lock the car while the motor is running). Installed the remote starter would run about $390 (alarm, trunk opener, panic, etc included). Anybody know of some good starters? I mainly want it for the hot summers here in Louisiana (to have the AC cool her off before I get in) and to warm it up in the winter (HA! What winter...winter here is like 60 degrees!!!), but it does get a little nippy. Thanks for any help!

Recommendation for Remote Start

I've used Auto Command in my other cars but one of the best Remote Start and Alarm Combo I have found is made by CompuStar. The model I purchased for my 6-speed RX-8 under perfect conditions will start or lock up to 6000 feet (a mile is 5280'). The remote has a nice LCD screen that notifys if it starts successfully. It also notifys if the alarm is tripped and what caused it (as long as you are within range of the car).
Timed turbo shutoff so when a person parks the car it can stay running and shut down after a specified time this allows for better engine cool down
The cost for one of these is around 600, american dollars, installed.
Here is the manufacturer's website:
