NY Rebuild needed?

Well sad story when i get the compression test done
Face 1: 4.4
Face 2: 4.7
Face 3: 4.5

Engine Fail

Don't know what top panel meant but heres the number: 244

Well that sounds like bad numbers to me.

Well this Thread is more for help on my Rebuild. (first time doing it)

Could someone link me to the DIY, And the main question for me is. What rebuild kit should i get. and Like a list of stuff i should get in advance. and any upgrades i should do while I'm here. Money is not the problem for much. but don't expect me to buy a 5000 part lol. Well I'm doing it in a back yard under a tent. And I'm not mechanically retarded. So shoot ideas. And leave the negativity off this Thread PLEASE. Also this rebuild will be done in the Queens, NY area. So if your around and know something. Let mere know

Considering you have only 2 rotors ...that looks like the results from just 1 rotor....3 faces

The 244# is the cranking RPM

What are the other 3 values?

For a rebuilt you will need to do a bit of work searching. You will at least need new apex seals, side seals and springs and a gasket set with all the gaskets and o-rings

You could need a lot more

Yeah looks like the compression #s for only one rotor and its failing pretty badly. Have you considered installing a reman from Mazda instead of a rebuild. In some cases a rebuild can run the same cost as just buying a reman and installing it yourself.

A Mazda reman? Why replace one f'd up engine with a soon to be f'd up engine and for that price no less?

If your ona tight budget you're better off contacting forum member "Rotary Resurrection"

I wouldn't trust a mazda remand. I'm kinda debating on a rebuild or a rebuilt one.

As long as you stay away from Mazda remans and sketchy rebuilders you'll be ok.
This means paying more in the short term but at least you'll have the peace of mind of long term savings vs endless rebuilds and nightmares.

From my experience these motors are usually not worth rebuilding. A Mazda reman is about $3300 and comes with new housings and seals. Most of these motors I see have significant wear on the rotor housings and piecing together a motor is just not worth it. With a reman you also get a new water pump, oil pump, thermostat, etc. If you are worried about the quality of a mazda reman, use it as a starting point, have it torn down, ported if you like, and put back together possibly with better apex seals depending on your application. These motors usually fail from excessive heat and insufficient oil metering all done to try to meet emissions. Get a fan controller, high flow cat, and%

You obviously never opened a fresh mazda reman to inspect it.
They're crap.

I've opened hundreds of them over they years. Are they all perfect? No. But it is still the best deal to get all new parts. Hence why I said to tear it down, inspect everything, and rebuild it.

it's not as bad as you think it is, like IR said, it's best way (probably cheapest) way to get new parts.

It's really just a hit or miss, lots of people got lucky, just not so much for the rest. I was one of the lucky one *knock on wood*

I have a Fresh Mazda Reman sitting in my NYC home. will disassemble it when Im back in a few months. see if I get lucky

What is new in a reman and what is not can vary, so each one will be different. Sometimes you get lucky and get one with more new parts than what is standard.

All remans I have seen over the past few years have new rotor housings and all new seals. At over $700 a piece for a rotor housing, this makes it a very good deal.

Ok couple more questions

1: why are these rear and front sensors so annoying to take off.

2: is it normal for my drive side moter mount bracket to be seized in?

What sensors? And no it's not normal for the mount to be seized but I don't know where you live so rust can always be a pain in the ***. Luckily I don't have to deal with rust here in South Texas.

These cars seem to rust more than other mazdas, particularly the metal hardware and fasteners. I usually use pb blast on the motor mount bolts, then chase them with a re-threader before re-assembly.
