"R" Flash( How can you check?)

Car(04MTRX8) was in shop overnight( repair oil leak from oil pan.) Invoice states "Reprogramed ECM Per bulliten". I called the service department and they tell me the only way they can tell what version I have is by hooking my car back-up (BS I Know). So my question(s) is/are.. How can you check what version of flash you have on your car? And if is infact the "R" what does "R" do for you? I have serched this forum for the answer and also google. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

One way to check the "R" flash is to completely warm your car to operating temperature and then hold the rpm's above 8500 for 10 seconds and the car should return to idle on it's own while you are still holding the throttle down. The "R" flash was mainly for the car generating too much heat while stationary. Not sure if it will help you, but my car idles alittle rougher since having going from "P" to "R" with the recall. Have fun.
