2 booring RX8 Noob questions....

Ok, i've searched the forums but cant find answers i need.

1. Ive read about clearing /re-setting the ecu by doing the engine off, 20 break pedal stomp thing whenever you buy an aftermarket part. Would anyone reccomend me doing this.... I purchased my 8 just over a week ago with 20000k miles on. Would it help to clear it so it will suit my driving style??

2. Also I have seen dyno results after a after market install coming up 200-225 Bhp. This confuses me.... someone tell me what the US RX8's come out the factory as?? here in the UK we have 2 models either a 190bhp or 231bhp.
I have the 231 lol..

Sorry for being ignorant or just asking plain stupid questions!!

Thanks

1) Only way to clear the ECU is to unhook the battery for a bit. Stomping the break pedal only resets the Eccentric shaft thingy or KAM, either way it doesn't reset the LTFT. However if you just drive the car it should adapt to your style.

2) The US rx8s come in 198hp ( 05 and earlier AT only) or 238 (MT only), and a new 212 or something like that (06 AT).

1. i don't think this is necessary, but you can do it if you want.
2. some rx8s with aftermarket parts will dyno around 200+ whp. i've never seen one at 225whp with n/a parts...FI seems to be needed to get above 210 (again, based of dyno charts that i've seen). the 200whp would be the 231bhp model. bhp is just another way to indicate horsepower at the crank (before drivetrain loses).

KAM reset
1) With the key in the off position, press and hold the odometer reset button and turn the key to on;
Continue to hold the odo button until the odometer reads "TEST" and then release.
2) Turn the key to off and repeat step one.

NVRAM reset
1) Turn the key to on
2) Depress the brake pedal rapidly 20 times in a row until the oil pressure gauge sweeps to halfway and back again.

NVRAM stores continuos engine data like fuel trim and code situations.
KAM stores sensor profiles and the actual MIL codes.

I'm a bit confused on this one:

KAM reset
1) With the key in the off position, press and hold the odometer reset button and turn the key to on;
Continue to hold the odo button until the odometer reads "TEST" and then release.
2) Turn the key to off and repeat step one.
It states, "Turn the key to off and repeat step one".....repeat how many times? Do you have to do this several times to make it reset the KAM? If so...how many times do you have to do step 1?

so if someone purchased an aftermarket intake or something, they might consider resetting the NVRAM, correct?
