Allright, I've been trying to figure out the principle behind the switchable day/night display. The little blue lights in the guage casing that light up for night display (red background) are still on when the car is turned off but it doesn't light up the guages when the car is turned off. How does that whole system work? Why do you need those blue lights?

 

The blue lights illuminate when your interior lights do, and stay on when the car is running - yes, even with the red lighting. When you shut off the car, the blue lights stay lit and fade out when the interior lights do. The purpose: dunno, just looks cool, I guess. :D
