Problem w/ Fuel

I'm not entirely sure where this belongs, so I'm guessing.

I bought a brand new RX-8 on 12/31 and the last 2 times I tried to refuel it, the gas pumps cut off at 3/4 of a tank. I didn't even realize it until I turned the car on and the fuel gauge didn't go all the way up. Any idea what might cause this?

Thanks,
RollinsX

Are you setting the nozzle for automatic shutoff? If so, the nozzle may be faulty and shutting off too early. I've had that problem before. If that's not the problem, the rollover flap inside the gas tank filler tube may be stuck, so take it in and have it checked out.

Or it's full and you don't know it. The guages in most cars register properly in a minute or so after filling. Just a thought.

This has also happened to me. Its not really that big a deal. I think that if you hold the pump completely perpendicular to the ground then it will fill it completely and if not it shuts off prematurely. I used to hold it at a slight slant just because the filler of the gas tank is kind of slanted and sometimes but not always it would stop at around 3/4 of a tank. Anyways, I have since held it perpendicular to the ground and not a problem.
