Oh Squeaky!

I changed the transmission and rear diff over to synthetic, which quiets the noise of the gears turning down.

I never heard a squeaking noise though.

I have heard that the throwout bearing will make noise when the clutch is depressed if it is bad.

whats killing me is that when i go to the dealer he keeps saying thats normal. Honestly its not its actually embaressing. its like a car in need to have some belts changed.
But i will try to change to synthetic and see whats up. i dont think its the bearing because usually its working when the clutch is pressed. so i dont know but i will mentione it to the dealer next time i go there

I didn't have it for the first 59K miles on my 8, but I have it now after install of remanuf motor and clutch replacement end of Dec 05. My tech advised that it is a common problem on 8's and 7's (my '93 twin turbo 7 didn't have it either) - source on mine is a bearing on the input shaft that has been in use by Mazda on the RX series for years. My tech showed me one he took off another vehicle, the bearing he showed me made noise just spinning it by hand. Tech advised that it will not cause any problems, just annoying as hell sitting at a red light with the clutch depressed and the tranny sounding like it is one step away from seizing solid...

Yea,

This was discussed many times and said to be normal for this and other Mazda's and other manufacturers cars. Gear Rollover noise! Its nasty sounding especially at the drive-up window for fastfood places but can't seem to be fixed.

My Dad wanted to take it back on the first day we got the car but with research and talking to other owners it seems to be true, it is normal for this trans. We went to Amsoil for trans. and rear diff. and its a bit better but I just drive ON !!!

No problems yet ??

and did you ask them why it was normal and to explain to you what the noise was?

seriously why does anyone leave the dealer having that answer and NOT GET IT EXPLAINED TO THEM?

its gear rollover noise. it comes from sitting on the tranny and having the stick directly connected to the tranny instead of thru linkage like you are probably used to. changing the tranny lube will help quiet it but not get rid of it.

I don't think I've ever experienced this "squicky" noise. A small ticking noise is what I hear but not annoying at all. Especially not to this extent.

Its nasty sounding especially at the drive-up window for fastfood places but can't seem to be fixed.
