Previous 04 8 Problems?

I got an 04 lightning yellow 8, which I had bought for 5 grand, off of a tow yard (it was an impound) so i have no idea how the previous owner drove it.. But my car is listed and stickered with the lemon buy back law (no pun intended for my yellow 8), but they managed to drive the car 82k miles.. So what have people brought in their 8s for back when they began having problems?

Some of the things I have heard just make me irritated because people are... well.. stupid. lol.

For example:
Crappy plastic visor breaking? Then wear sunglasses and put your hand up.

Passenger seat plastic coming off/door panel coming off done? I push it back in and dont care since i am the driver, not the passenger. who cares what a passenger thinks?

Taillights filled with condensation? Personally, I dont care about that unlike some people.. Do they light up? Yes. Can you see them? Yes. Will they affect the bulb? Who knows, if it does, fix it. Problem? No.

And the last one I know about... Engine flooding. I've heard people complain in reviews that the engine floods when you turn it off while its cold.. For me, if I turn it on, I'm going. I cant resist to not drive the car. But it never gets really cold here, never any snow.. Although if that were the case, proper engine warming should be used if in that situation..

All old news, i know.. I just want to know if any of those could make my car a lemon. and I only experience the plastic on the passenger seat, and the passenger door being hard to open because the door panel was catching.. which i fixed by pushing it in.. as well as the seat plastic. and I am also currently experiencing the condensation thing.

And I think the lemon buy back law is only enforced in California (I may be wrong), so what it states is if someone brings back their car to a dealer for the same repair at least, or is, twice, and they are still dissatisfied with it, the dealer has to buy it back in full... And thus plaster it with that stupid sticker.

IF YOU DIDNT READ THE ABOVE CUZ IT WAS TOO LONG

What would be the cause of my car being a lemon?

P.S. I get terrible gas milage, and it's not a lead foot.

Being a lemon means it's more to repair than it is to maintain.
So, if I were you, I'd take good care of your 8 (ie let it warm up for at least 30 sec before you drive, and keep rpm's below 3500 until near normal operating temps, unless you wanna crack your seals)
No offense, but it sounds like you're just being lazy about the car. Keep it in good order and your car can last. If not, well, the lemon title will be justified...

Gas mileage... could be a number of problems. What do you get per tank?

None taken.. I just dont see how I'm lazy? If the engine runs, that is what matters after all.. Right?

And I do try to warm it up.. Only days like Saturday and Sunday morning it will have a rough start just like me since I have work at 7 am and i'm being awoke 15 minutes before then, rushing to get out to go... But thats pretty much the only time.. And you are talking about an actual lemon.. This was just a law that made my car a lemon because of god knows what reason the first owner took it back for.. but so far i've driven it over 2k miles.. best experience ever, at least compared to my old 01 chrysler sebring convertible..

regarding the mpg.. I did expect to not have fantastic mpg, because i always got around 15 mpg in my sebring, but i think that was because of my lead foot, so i was used to low numbers.. but im constantly running around 12 or so, which i had lead footed it at least a couple several times per tank of gas.. but my second last tank of gas, i had devoted it to just some casual relaxed granny driving.. and in about 50-60 miles i was down to 3/4 tank.. then on friday i traveled on the highway to a destination 50 miles away, and i was drafting my friend in his 73 blazer on offroad tires.. and we were drafting a tanker at one point too... was not any better. going to get it a full tune up soon, but i dont have any money right now, so im just bearing with what i have.

It's more than just having a running engine. Be proud of your purchase man! Keep the car looking clean and get those tail lights and other small things fixed Check around the forums. There are plenty of DIY's for these fixes to save you money.

As for your mileage, read that thread that I linked to you. Check the plugs, coils section. Those are usually a good candidate to the cause of bad fuel mileage...

oh trust me, i am proud.. but i have fixed it all already, of the ones i told you at least.. except for the taillights. i do know, or have heard, that if you drill a hole (works for all taillights/headlights) that it will open up for the condensation to come out, obviously.. but i dont exactly feel like doing that because i couldnt really go back on that, plus its not a for sure fix, and i havnt researched that much on it.. it still works. thats what matters. lol

regardless, i wont be able to fully fix up this car for at least a while.. insurance is insane, because they still consider it a 2 door sports car, and im 18, blah blah blah.. they really let us have it. The paint on the whole body could use a repaint.. the hood looks like it was repainted, as it is pretty pale compared to the rest of the body, with some peel spots.. feels like a messed up decal. got some orange spots too. plus it had a dent the size of your open hand, pushed into the front corner of the driver side engine fender.. and thats at least $600 if i dont do it myself.. i rather keep it as it's beauty mark, if anything.. oh and my spoiler doesnt have a clear coat? lol

And it is kept clean.. i wash it when it needs a good wash, i put some good decals on it, that flow with the body.. vacuum it out.. etc.. i dont know, i enjoy the car just the way it is.. couldnt really beat 5 grand but yeah, if i need to do it myself, i'll be sure to find a way.. or get my dad to help me. if you know of the horrible 2.7L engine that is in the 01 chrysler sebring convertible, you'll know of its horrible water pump failure... and my dad fixed mine.. only lasted about 3xx miles, but still a miracle in my books.

and about the spark plugs, my brother in law, who i got the car from at the tow yard, he said his buddy from subaru inspected the car when they first got it, and the plugs were fine, but it was in the tow yard for almost a year, so something isnt right.. i'd get a full tune up cheap from him most likely, just waiting on the quote.. these guys gotta get business sometime lol
