He had a perfectly good post. His first here, and actually very good. He's been through the mill with the dealer not fixing his car, and he came here asking if any fellow owners had similar symptoms. He deserves a lot better than "search, noob" and "dealers are stupid."

I might sound like an ***, but I think the only way for him to learn is thru the *hard* way. hmm wait, I think thats how everybody learns .... he doesnt even know that HE should be the one to tell the dealership WHAT exactly to do, he just listen to whatever his dealership saids. he deserves what he is getting.

[quote]My 2004, 43,000 miles has a a major power loss when the outside temp reaches about 70. I have had it in the shop many times for this. They have replaced the coils, plugs, and have done the updates, but to no avail it is never fixed. When this happens the engine knocks and pings, (it always has that chirpping/marble sound)I have to rev it up lot more than normal just to let the clutch out, that of which the clutch begins to burn. It also begins to break up around 4000-5000 RPM'S. It feels to me that it is overheating or the cat is clogged but the temp guage reads normal. They have checked the cat but say it is ok.I'm beginning to wonder if I'm in store for a new motor. Has anybody else had this problem and how was it rectified? This has been happening for a long time. I am at my wits end with this car and warmer weather is here. PLEASE HELP![/quote

come on, look at what he posted

"I have had it in the shop many times for this"
That simply means the dealership dont know htf to fix a car.

"They have replaced the coils, plugs, and have done the updates, but to no avail it is never fixed. "
All the dealership did was follow the shop manual, well, cant say thats wrong but, that also proves that ppl who works there are nothing but a bunch of idiots. If your local supermarket sells nothing but expired food, or ppl who work there just listen to radio and never clean the place. Why would you want to go there again ?
Go to another supermarket. I dont care if u were born in that supermarket or whatever the hell reason.

Thats the OP's own stupidly, its very obvious that the car has a problem, why would he even accept to get the car back ? he should've just left it at the shop until they *fix it completely*

he might did part of his homework, but if Im the teeacher I will only give him a C. why ? he believes the temp gauge ? Its easy to tell if he needs a new motor. but Im more interest to know that what was the root cause of the problem. Replacing is easy, but what if it still fails ? or something else caused it ?

Has anybody else had this problem and how was it rectified? This has been happening for a long time. I am at my wits end with this car and warmer weather is here. PLEASE HELP!
Stop sitting there and pray for miracles to happen. SEARCH ! Or as simple as go telll them to do a compression test. Check the Tranny for failure as well.

I've had mine in for service for the same problem. The first time they said it was carbon build-up. Last time they replaced the coils and wires but that didn't make a difference. They then said the shutter valve was not functioning properly. They had to replace the intake manifold for this and so far it's been running great.

My 2004 AT developed severe power loss at 80 degrees plus. They replaced the mass airflow sensor and the car runs fine now.

Smile New Motor

I finally got my car back. It is running great so far. It never had this much power even when it was new. The fuel milage is already better then ever. Mazda couldn't figure out what was wrong with it so they finally gave in and gave me a new motor. Maybe they will figure it out when they tear it down. O-Well... I'm happy with it so far.

New Motor? Wow, then it all worked out well.

I would have:

1. Checked the MAF

2. Check coolant. I would also be on the look out for rust or time to change fluid.

3. Check ignition coils

4. Check spark plugs

5. Engine compression check of course.... which may be why you got the new motor

6. O2 sensor and Cat.

7. Check if my car was part of any re-calls.

Things that would have been considered, but only after going to the dealer for a check-up.

8. Get a grounding kit

9. I would consider the breather mod ( https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...light=breather ). Basically there is a return line routing oil vapor and dirty air into your intake. The breather mod would make sure that your car only breathes fresh air. However your dealer may not like it, so you will have to replace it when you bring it in (very quick fix... like 5 or so minutes). Mazda has an offical mod on this that routes the line into your lower intake manifold, but then your car is still "breathing" oily vapors and dirty air.

10. Mazsport cooling fan mod

However, how can you beat a brand new engine??? Cool... Now if I can just get a free new engine just before my warranty is up and I go FI....

tell ur dealership to check n see if the ambient temp sensor or barometric pressure sensor is workin properly..... that would be my only guess if theyve replaced all ur ignition components n ur misfiring......thats what sounds lke the problem is, if they say everythings fine tell them to show u, u wanna see the scanner at what temp is says n have it compared to specs in there manual........thats the only thing i can think of if u have a difference in performance at hotter temperature......hopefully that helps good luck any more questions pm me
