I heard that BHR ignition gives a proven 20 whp increase... why would I pay for a product without huge hp increases??

Actually, we dyno'd Flashwing's car the other day. First with some fairly new OEM coils and then with a spare set of MSD 8247s we had from a long time ago. Flashwing gained 7-8 rwhp but and that is simply an indication as to how crappy the OEM coils are.

I'm referring to the "tuner" magazines that have ads about their gee-whiz, ninja spark plug wires that "add horsepower", along with most of the other garbage that floats around in those things purporting themselves as being "power gains". Spark plug wires is one of those things that (potentially) falls into a category of being something that may prove to be detrimental when changing from stock stuff. I fell for it many years ago as well. I used a set of Jacobs 8.5mm solid-core race wire. No issues with hearing noise on the radio either (that's not an acid test, btw and as you know I listen to just as much AM as you do ) but had issues with crank trigger signals bouncing around especially at high RPM. I've seen just as much with aftermarket plug wires (MSD, Jacobs, Mallory, etc) on other cars whilst trying to tune them that produced the same sorts of symptoms -- datalogged RPM spikes that went to the moon and back in split-second intervals for example.

+1. I've not been impressed with the factory coils nor the Mazsport (Bosche) ones.

I think I'll take my MSD set work tomorrow and O-scope them for noise and possibly some other useful data.

I got magnacore which have done a fine job for me. Though, if I was to do it all over again, I might go with BHR - he seems to have a lot of fans on here and has items for very good prices.

Alright a Magnacore owner! Could you do me a flavor and do an OHM resistance test and let me know what you get?

I'm doing some testing on the MSD wires for EMI, resistance on the copper wound wire, the carbon film (which supposedly carries the voltage load) and a few other tests.

I had the magnacore 10mm wires for about 40,000 miles and then switched to the BHR MSD wires. No differences in RFI or EMI as there was none to begin with and still none with the new wires.
