Pinging 4 Port...Your thoughts?
So...I've got a pinging problem. 2004 4port AT with 83k on the clock(all mine). It happens under WOT, 2nd gear at approximately 5500rpm (probably happens in 3rd as well, but that's over 100mph so I haven't tested it). I've tried 4 brands of 93 octane gas, so that's not the issue. I've used Yamaha Ring Free in the last 2 tanks, in case of carbon buildup (also use it about once every month and a half).
My thoughts: Fuel injectors. If I'm not mistaken, 5500rpm is pretty close to the secondary injector pickup point (4 port remember). It's leaning out there, but accelerates fine above 6k. I'm going to borrow a laptop this weekend and hook up my Harrison scanner to look at things.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

I don't buy Kool-Aid
You useing Synthetic Oil? Premix?
This stuff sounds like to much work;"Bottle said 1 oz per 15 gallons and 2oz per 15 for shock. The fact there's a 'shock treatment' suggests that it can be used any time. The label says that older motors may experiance plug fouling when shocked. I'd say, clean it, get that junk out of there, change plugs, and use the maintenance dosage thereafter."
Also sounds like its for bikes and boats.
Ask MazdaManiac what hes useing.

Dino oil. And I only notice it when the car is warm after driving in traffic before getting on the highway (that's when I can actually get it up to 6k in 2nd).
I haven't noticed it the last couple days, but I've been tiptoe'ing through the rpm range where it happens. I did try to make it happen yesterday, and I couldn't. Maybe the RingFree has cleaned up the injectors and stuff. I'm skeptical about it being carbon deposits, as I do the daily "maintenance" but the engine does have 83k miles on it. Perhaps a bit more attention to carbon buildup is necessary.

Sounds like your car is running hot maybe with some carbon build up too. I just got the mazda coolant mod. Seems to help. Before the coolant mod it would only happen after long idles, but pinged only once! After clearing it out I can lug it or keep redlinning it without issues.

Did this mod awhile ago. It does help!
I'm tring to think of a extra mod to help it out more....Running the top hose to my airbox? I got a revi. The forced air might help blow cool air through the TB?

Sorry, Only my wife can read my mind. The top TB coolant hose. I was thinking of running it to the front portion of my airbox or revi intake duct(Before the filter). I was hopping this would blow(Cold,Cool) air through the TB. Seems this would be better than just pluging it up on both ends. Leave the bottom hole open and let the air flow through. I'm going give it a try.
