1) walk to your car
2) find your trunk... it is open
3) open your trunk then close your trunk

Also possible this contributed to your flood by running down the battery. Since the trunk doesn't raise much it's easy to not notice if it's popped, which is why the absence of the "flash" is a nice reminder.

If you have no ongoing use for the trunk light, pop the lens off and remove the bulb. Then at least it won't ever run your battery down. Of course, you may unknowingly leave the trunk unlatched at some point, so you will need to decide which is the lesser evil.

I'm happy I found this thread, as my 8 has stopped flashing when I press lock also.

There is a problem however, I've even tried slamming the trunk shut and my lights still won't flash when I press "Lock".

This used to work and I really miss it.

I'll check the latch out to make sure there's nothing stopping it from closing. The trunk is basically empty.

It also appears that I'm the only one this hasn't worked for. Everyone else has seemed to suceed by ensuring the trunk was latched shut.

EDIT: I've also tried making sure the hood was shut too.

the light tells you that the alarm is arming. if no flash then something is stopping the alarm from arming.

try isolating what it could be. open and close the right side- try to arm it. if it arms then it was one of those doors. then if it doesnt try the left side. try to arm- no flash try the trunk- no flash the hood again. if after all of that it still doesnt flash then make an appointment for the dealer so they can figure out which sensor is not o[perating correctly.

Hey thanks for the reply. I'm supposed to take it in for a recall anyway so I'll have them check that out too.
