Question Oil Pressure Guage high?

I noticed on my 8 today that the reading on the oil pressure guage is about two hash marks above the center hash. From reading the owner's manual, it states it should be right at or a little below the center hash.

The 8 runs fine. I even recently took it in to the dealership for oil change.

Should I be worried about the oil pressure or is this something other 8 owners have experienced?

I hate to tell you this, but that gauge doesn't actually work.
It is connected to a sensor in the sump that gives it either a on or off signal, not an actual reading.

NJ is true... it is a 1/0 thing. So there is only on/off. The absolute value is not important, as long as it is above a certain oil pressure, it will be positive.

If the sensor were changed, would the gauge give you a actual reading? or would you have to rep;ace the gauge as well?

I'm not certain, but IMO, I believe you should be able to wire it up somehow.
Anyone try this?

To add to this, my 2001 Dodge Durango has a gauge that reflects actual oil pressure (one of the few things taht Dodge did right). It would be nice if there was an easy MOD that gave the RX8 the same function in that it lacks a oil level gauge.
