Oil overflow routed to TB???

Hey guys

Stumbled across a DIY thread for an oil catch can, and i understand the purpose and functionality and agree it is a great idea to install one but I cant seem to find an answer to what seems to me is a simple question. Why is blow by or overflow oil even routed to the intake to begin with???

Thanks

Because it's meant as a "Crankcase" vent, blow by is not technically supposed to occur, but it does...Usually it's a result of over filling the oil or adding oil too fast, it can also occur while tracking the car.

Wouldn't it make more sense to vent it to atmosphere, just doesn't make sense auto manufactures know that potential blow by can occur why vent it to a potential hazard.

Since when do we follow those laws, there should be new standards of emission laws for Wankels
none sounds acceptable

No, under normal conditions it shouldn't occur, and that's what a manufacturer is concerned with.

Venting to atmosphere would equal oil all over the engine bay.

Venting it with just a filter like some have done here would equal an easily clogged vent and for the average owner that's no good.

Venting it to a catch can although optimal would just mean added components and cost for the manufacturer to counteract an issue that should not occur.

Besides, the routing of the lines was changed for the 2006 models. You should get a catch can for your 2004 or 2005, though.
