Odd Delay After Shifting

My car has developed a delay after I shift. It seems to only happen under these conditions: hard acceration, in gears 3 thru 6 and at high shift points like 8000 or 9000 rpm. The scenario goes something like this: Accelerate hard through all gears > In third hit 8500 or 9000 rpm > Push in clutch > Let up on gas > Shift to 4th > Release clutch pedal > Get back on the gas > Odd Delay. Almost like the engine cuts out. I'm not slipping the clutch or letting the revs drop. It just pauses for a second.

Anyone else experience this or have suggestions as to what might be going on? Thanks in advance.

POSSIBLY A FUEL blockage in your injectors at the higher RPM RANGE.

Fuel starvation? Did you have a full tank of fuel? Others have reported problems with fuel starvation with a half empty tank on track days due to fuel moving around in the tank.

Hmmm.

Could this problem also be described as the following:

Taking revs on 2nd up through to about 8500 or so (hard on the gas), shifting, and hard on the gas again, and there is a slight hesitation?

If so, I've had this problem with my 8 since the day I got it...

If so, I've never figured it out. It's not as bad as it was, but still happens.

This just happened to me the other day after a long period without the problem. I winded her out in 1st and shifted to 2nd and blah... <delay> then power back on like normal. Don't know what exactly is causing the problem now. Usually the traction control doesn't intervine till I've actually spun the tires slightly.

I am currently having a "hunting idle" when cold as well as rough idle when warm. I've read in a thread here that it may be the clutch pedal (lever) switches causing issues with the ECU. Don't know if this could cause the hesitation when shifting too.

Could this delay be a function of DSC/TC? Maybe the computer tries to "soften" the shift by preventing full throttle after a shift. It would be possible with all of the sensors on the car. It knows when the clutch is depressed and what the RPM is. Prevents damage to driveline, I guess.

Just a thought.

Get the new flash... see if it helps. I used to have a hesitation at high rpms... didn't necessarily notice when shifting. Got the new flash yesterday and more/smoother power all across the rev range... I'm quite the happy camper now

It doesn't matter wether DSC is on or completly off. Same result.
The reason I haven't got the latest flash is that my car gets good mileage and has never flooded, so if there isn't any gain, then I'm not going to bring it to the dealer.

Well most who've had the 'L' flash, myself included, have experianced more power, so I'd say that's a gain. What year/flash level is your car?

I agree... my car did that all the time (I THINK I had the 'M' flash but I'm not certain). The 'N' flash completely fixed it. I'd say take it to the dealer and tell them it's not shifting smoothly and you'd like the latest flash.

Over in the other thread I mentioned, snap-on said:

This seemed to fix a few cars.

They are working on a flash to address the others.
So maybe this truly is the answer. I just gotta then figure out if I have the N...

side effects from a flash

i have supposedly had my car flashed twice. once for the "L" and again for the "M". when i picked up my car after the "M" flash all of my radio presets were erased and my tripometers were reset. i thought this was funny, since none of these things happened for the "L". so i guess my question is: is a side effect from all flashes losing radio presets and the like? or was it just the "M"? if that happens at all flashes, did i not get the "L" then?
