Normal Oil Pressure

What does everyones oil pressure run at on their 04-08 rx8?

i have an 05 that i just purchased and the oil pressure always runs 3 clicks above the middle mark towards hot and the red light always comes on to tell me about it...

is this normal?

That's a dumb gauge and won't move unless something big happens. With a real gauge it varies from 1 to around 5 bar depending on the rpms and the load
Same happens for the water temperature gauge.

All that gauges is if you have pressure or not.
There is no "measured" reading with that gauge.

This might be too obvious but......Do you know that the Rotary engine is Oil Injected and the RED LIGHT is telling you that you are near 2 quarts low. Check the dip stick and see where the oil level is? Please come back and let us know before the engine is gone.

Jeez......what's the deal lately?
I've seen more stupid questions(along with 12 year old spelling, punctuation, and grammar) today!
OP, not much wrong with your post except the question was ridiculous. And.....don't come back and say you don't have a manual for the car, because it's a free download at www.mazdausa.com under the owners section!

as others have mentioned here: our "oil pressure" gauge is a dummy gauge. It does not show accurate oil pressure because if it did, it would be constantly moving.

only real way to know your oil pressure is with an aftermarket gauge. Here's my setup

if you're interested in something like that, look at my DIY thread in the electronics subforum to see what is involved in putting gauges in our car.

My gauge is like two ticks past the middle but I checked my dipstick and its low. I want to put more oil in it but I don't want the oil gauge to be high. Any suggestions?

HomicidalApple- What Mazurfer is getting at is many people start new threads on topics that have been discussed numerous times here.
The search function here isn't the greatest, but I suggest using the 'advanced search' feature to narrow down the search results to a particular section.

And you're right... he is an *******
JK... he really is a good guy... we all have our days!

Have you read anything here?
The gauge has nothing to do with oil level (unless the level was too low).
Just fill your oil until its at the "full" mark on the dipstick.
Read your owner's manual for further details.

I'll even attached the section of the owner's manual for you because I'm such a nice guy

Just go off what the dipstick is telling you the level is.

And I can't discuss oil types because that is the one topic that'll get this thread locked by the mods.
Once again... one of those topics that is talked about SO much that even the mods are getting irritated.
So search on that topic.

Yes, I am an ******* at times. In hindsight, I should have created yet another thread to allow discussion on my "State of the Forum" commentary and kept it out of any particular thread.
