I missed the articles on synthetic oil and i never ONCE saw the that synthetics could not be used... So i put 3/4 of synthetic in... my question is...can i go back to normal mineral type or would that cause damage?

You'll may be told by other forum members here that you can use synthetic oil. I'll say nothing more.

To answer your question, your 3/4 quart of synthetic oil should not cause any problems and you can go back to adding dino oil. Don't loose any sleep over it.

FYI - The manual transmission RX-8 hold 7.1 US quarts of motor oil while the AT hold 6.1 US quarts.

if you took the time to jack up the back end of the car, disconnect the lines from the oil coolers etc, you could get all the oil out.
