Noise from gas tank

I had an incident with my transmission where it just went clunk hard when coming to a full stop. Dealer says there is no problem, but ever since this incident, I've been hearing thumping noise fromt he rear when the car comes to a full stop. I went and emptied everything from the trunk and the noise was still there. It took a few days but I've managed to find out that the spare tire was not fastened(also noticed my IMS kit was missing ). After tightening the spare tire hoping the noise will be gone, I drove the car around and the noise is still there.

It was about 2-3 am in the morning and the noise seemed louder. It finally hit me. It was coming from the gas tank. The gas in the tank is moving around and I can hear the splash noise and at the same time and the tank is making thumping noise.

Is this normal?

Certainly not. Is this a US car? If so, it could be that when they did one of the latest recalls that calls for dropping the tank, they didn't reinstall the tank correctly. Take it back to the dealer for repairs.

Yes, purchased in Long Island NY.

I don' think service manager is gonna like me much. In less than 1200 original miles, had to change the gear ****, sand/paint rear rotor, possible gear/transmission problem, fuel consumption problem, missing IMS kit while at dealer, oil foam on dip stick.........

sounds like you might want to find another dealer if this one can't seem to get things right

The foam is normal! It means your not warming up your car enough.

All car oils will foam when car is not properly warmed up!

See the dealer for performing a technical service bulletin to prevent foaming build up on dipstick. There is one available.

Technician said is is normal.

If you folks don't mind, when driving at night when it is very quiet outside, give it a hard brake right before you stop and listen for any noise from the rear. My car thumps twice or more followed by fuel splashing inside the gas tank. I only hear this at night time when it is very quiet out side. Maybe it is normal for this behavior?

I hear this with windows closed with usually 1/2 to 3/4 full.

I don't mean hard break during normal driving. When coming almost to complete stop(2-5 mph)?, hit the brake and right after car comes to a full stop, the noise is heard..

Thanks Cool..
