Question New RX-8 Owner

Hello,
I am new to owning an RX-8... I have never owned a rotary vehicle before. So I have a few questions for anyone who is experienced with this kind of car.
I do know that these cars burn oil pretty quick. How often should I add oil to the car? And how often should I drain/change the oil? Can anyone recommend a good kind to use? That's all the questions I have for now... Is there anything else I should know that I probably don't?

If I posted this Thread in the wrong part of the forums, please move it to the correct place.

Thanks,
Alex

The rotary engine is oil injected, if it's not burning oil your in trouble. Please read your Manual. Every thing you need to know is in it . Any good quality oil is fine. There is 1.8gts between the "L" and "H" on the dip stick. Change the oil and filter every 3K or four months which ever comes first. Use the Search Button on the top of the page it works well as does the "STICKY's" mesg....

what i have heard about the kind of oil is 5w-20 non-synthetic. because it burns and if you dont get non synthetic then oil will build up and your engine will just quit on you with out warning. i heard this from a mazda dealer.

Add when it gets low. Typically a quart every 1000 to 2000 miles, but go by the dipstick. Change every 3000 miles or so, definitely not longer than Schedule 2 intervals. Name brand 5w20, API Service SL or better.

There's a FAQ in a sticky that you should read. Answers all of the basic questions, and then some.

I would check your oil after every 2-3 gas fill ups and change your oil and oil filter every 3k. Mazda says 5k is ok but its really dirty after 5k, Stick with the 3k. I use Castrol GTX 5w20
