New Reverse Light for my 8
So I have discussed this with others on other threads and I finally got around to doing it.
I have wanted to spray my taillights red for a while now and was concerned with not having a white reverse light, so I made one. I haven't sprayed the tails yet but I did rewire the stock reverse lights so that they are now blinker bulbs, making 2 amber bulbs on each side. They are amber for now until i spray the tail. Let me know what you think.
Before: (stock bumper)
After: (fog light mounted in the "rotary hole")
From the beginning...
I removed the tails and bumper
Here is what the fog light looks like uninstalled. I bought them as a set of 2 at the local Pepboys. I loved the shape of them instantly and knew they would fit nicely.
This black plug is the reverse wiring. Just simply snip the red wire and tap it into the existing blinker wire (green). Be sure to leave enough slack to get the bulbs back into the taillights in appropriate holes.
Here is the light mounted to the backside of the bumper.
Just run the wires into the trunk. I went thru a plastic plug that is opposite the wires coming out of the trunk for the liscense plate lights.
Here are some finished product pics...
may not be as efficient of light as the stock back up bulbs but it does the trick...
the taillight with too blinker bulbs (soooooo much brighter)
so let me know what you all think.

you'd be suprised how not noticable it is. Im 6'2" and standing 10 ft away it is hard to see. it sits back deep enough.

What sucks is when you are say trying to parallel park people won't notice the white light on the bottom of your car turning on because they are more prone to stare at eye level. Hopefully it doesn't cause you to get rear ended.

They are brand new. Mazda swapped them out for me under warranty. I had the same problem. It would come and go. I had to snap a pic for the dealership to do this for me. They said there was nothing they could do the first time i mentioned the problem because it wasnt doing it that day. no problems sense. if you aren't under warranty why havent you fixed it yourself??????????????????
