New Reverse Light for my 8
So I have discussed this with others on other threads and I finally got around to doing it.
I have wanted to spray my taillights red for a while now and was concerned with not having a white reverse light, so I made one. I haven't sprayed the tails yet but I did rewire the stock reverse lights so that they are now blinker bulbs, making 2 amber bulbs on each side. They are amber for now until i spray the tail. Let me know what you think. Before: (stock bumper) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...i/IMGP0132.jpg After: (fog light mounted in the "rotary hole") http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...i/IMGP0146.jpg From the beginning... I removed the tails and bumper http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...i/IMGP0138.jpg Here is what the fog light looks like uninstalled. I bought them as a set of 2 at the local Pepboys. I loved the shape of them instantly and knew they would fit nicely. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...i/IMGP0134.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...i/IMGP0135.jpg This black plug is the reverse wiring. Just simply snip the red wire and tap it into the existing blinker wire (green). Be sure to leave enough slack to get the bulbs back into the taillights in appropriate holes. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...i/IMGP0139.jpg Here is the light mounted to the backside of the bumper. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...i/IMGP0142.jpg Just run the wires into the trunk. I went thru a plastic plug that is opposite the wires coming out of the trunk for the liscense plate lights. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...i/IMGP0144.jpg Here are some finished product pics... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...i/IMGP0147.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...i/IMGP0155.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...i/IMGP0151.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../IMGP0157B.jpg may not be as efficient of light as the stock back up bulbs but it does the trick... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...i/IMGP0156.jpg the taillight with too blinker bulbs (soooooo much brighter) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...i/IMGP0158.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../IMGP0159B.jpg so let me know what you all think. |
COOL!not a bad fix for those tailgaters that like to ride bumpers.should have a strobe that blinds them for being too close but we all knoe thats not legal round here>

Nice job

Sweet!

its a nice idea, but i just don't like the total look of the additional light in the rotary sign. Just looks a little bulky.
But nice idea and great pics! |
Nice mod. I bet a better fog would provide better backup lights. I think the stockers suck.

What sucks is when you are say trying to parallel park people won't notice the white light on the bottom of your car turning on because they are more prone to stare at eye level. Hopefully it doesn't cause you to get rear ended.

I really like how bright it is and 9krpm... like that Avitar

I think the light he has is fine for most people but I live in the sticks so it's dark as shit backing out of my driveway. I like my Avatar too.
