New clutch new smells and feel?

I just put in a ACT StreetLite flywheel and the Street/Strip clutch with pressure plate.

I broke it in driving it easy for the most part. Last night I punched it from around 4k in 2nd and did a slow shift into 3rd.

Well when I accelerate I smell gear oil and a funny smell, not a burnt clutch smell though.

Also, I have noticed that going from 2nd to 3rd is a bit notchy but it doesnt feel notchy if I go 2-N-3. Sometimes when in high rpm in 2nd and i push the clutch in and shift it feels like something isnt letting go and when going to 3rd when that happens it almost feels like the synchros arent exactly matching up.

Took it to the dealer about the 2-3 issue and they said its cause of the clutch and its more pronounced because of the clutch but it does happen in all RX8s.

Should I be concerned with anything?

Aside from that I took it in for a warranty on a throw out bearing about 2 weeks ago and now the new one is making noises which sucks.

There is an updated 2-3 shift fork, but I don't know the part number.

That notchy feel is the synchro spinning up. Check the fluid level and type to be sure both are correct. Also check your clutch pedal bracket for weakened spot welds and make sure your free play is set correctly. That is covered in one of my threads. How many miles on the car? Something close to 50K?

I have almost 28k miles. The clutch was fine that was in there but with them having to replace the throw out bearing I just said what the hell, Ill do a new clutch and flywheel combo.

Service writers have "normal" tattooed on the inside of their eyelids. On my 2004, the 2-3 shift is by far the smoothest of the entire box. Maybe I've got an abnormal one.
