N3R1 oil filter on Series I?

N3R1 oil filter on Series I?
My neighbour recently gave me half a dozen of these N3R1 oil filters that he never got to use with his Forester XT (written off). Apparently these Tokyo Roki filters are very popular with the Subie crowd.
These filters are for Series II look a bit taller than the regular Series I oil filters. Wondering if I can use them?

I don't know too much about part number.
But I do know about that series 2 oil filter has a higher bypass rating than the series 1, IMHO, if you do not have the oil pressure regulator mode done, stick with series 1 filter might be a good idea.
