My MAF is in pieces!

I understand that it is quite easy to bust an o-ring from the MAF or screw out the grooves. Check out the other pic. How does one go about and do something like that?! All this was done to my MAF by a professional mechanic who did my engine swap. This is why I hate letting an outsider work on my car.

wow ... professional mechanic? how the F did he managed to break it like that? you don't even need to remove it from the tube. Just unplug, leave it in place, remove tube and airbox. wtf ?

Tell him to pay for a new one. seriously. Mazda/Toyota use the same type of MAF. well, just tell him to buy u a brand new Mazda part and be done with it.

I agree! I'd need pliers to break that on purpose!

It is a big company. They do car sales and service. The car still ran even with the air temperature sensor in that condition. Needless to say that the car had some shuddering when idling, though. I told them that I think they messed up the sensor, but they weren't willing to take responsibility for it. Burden of proof was mine ofcourse and I had none since the car was running. This is the way customer service works in finland.
I bought a remanned Toyota MAF from Rockauto and now it runs great. That was about 150 USD down the drain because of some hamfisted idiot.
