What MAP sensor are you using to get boost pressure?

It is the MPX4250AP from Freescale Semi. Specifically designed for use with turbo'd engines. It will work with NA cars too if you care to see your vacuum level.

Yes, but you will probably need a different calibration, conversion factor.

Why even worry about sourcing a builder? Why not do a DIY kit. :http://www.diyautotune.com/ <---- have been doing it for many years. Most people can solder or know some one who would give them a hand doing so.

This is really cool

The advantage of this over the ScanGauge (other than what was already mentioned) is the fact that the ScanGauge's LCD display kinda sucks, especially in bright sunlight when it is essentially impossible to see. This on the other hand will always be nicely visible.
The disadvantage is of course the fact that it can only display one gauge at a time, not four like the ScanGauge can. Installation is a bit more involved than just plugging the unit into the OBD-II socket. And this is not as easy to transfer from one car to another, but that's not something people do on a regular basis anyway.

I wish there was a way to display the oil temperature and pressure, but since these values are not available through the OBD-II socket, this won't work I suppose. By the way, I was always amazed by the fact that these two values are not provided in a car with an engine like this where the importance of these values is really paramount. What was Mazda thinking?

Very interesting product... depending on the price, if you can undercut the ScanGauge, this would be a very worthwhile addition.

These parts are a pain to solder, tiny .5mm surface mount. Also the chip needs to get programmed, which requires a programmer & laptop with special software etc.

It can also display 2 gauges at a time (6 chars per gauge), and you can switch between 2 more with a single button press. With the additional analog input, you can setup oil temp & pressure sensors too.

Pieter3d.........Motorola by chance?

I thought of doing this sort of thing eventually, but just can't find the time. It looks good though and you will sell a ton of them!

Anyway........I have the PLX devices and I'm sure you've done enough research on this, but below is a link to all I can get off the OBDII using the PLX. It may be useful to you, but probably not! Of course it uses conversion factors and I can display somewhat of an AFR amongst other things. It also converts some of these to what would be normally seen or understood, such as the EGT.

Posts number 22 and 23 in this thread is where I have pics of all it will read.

Anything you change is saved automatically. It will even turn itself back on if you didn't turn it off when the car was turned off.

Those .5mm surface mounts do suck to solder I have only had to do it a few times here at work and it did not help that our equipment sucks. I have played around a little with rom flashing software in the past but it has been a few years and the free ones are not very user intuitive. If you stay with your small form factor I can understand why no DIY kit.

That'll work!
