My car is in the shop going to see if they will address all the TSB's

I put my car into the shop on sat for an oil change and to see why my rear breaks are wearing weird. I am going to call them in the morn and ask them to do all the TSB's that are out currently. What luck do you think I will have?

Depends on the dealer. I am in Houston also, and my car goes back to Austin (Mazda South) for anything it might need that I can't do myself. The only two dealers in Houston who ever touched my 8 screwed something up, and Mazda South had to "fix the fix" afterwards.

In fact, Mazda South is fixing something else that was screwed up by a Houston dealer this week (Thursday).

My guess is they will tell you they did them and they will never touch it. My other guess is that they will overfill your oil on the oil change, and the manual specifically cautions against this.

Be careful and check EVERYTHING they touch. I have given them several chances over the years (97 Miata, 99 10AE Miata, 2004 RX-8), and they have YET to get it right.

FYI - I had averaged 17.964 mpg on the first 15-20 tankfuls (from new). Since the last time a Houston dealer touched it, I am now averaging 14.997 (8 tankfuls - NO difference in trips or driving style). I'm still trying to work this one out (they replaced the mass airflow sensor and throttle body) - thought you might want to know..........

Hum ... not sure why they woupdn't take care of them? But I do know that some of the TSB's have specific things they need before Mazda will take care of them. For instance, my dealer said they would no do the oil pan recall without seeing the oil light on and oil level within normal ranges. I'm sure Mazda is trying to keep their costs down.

That's one of the three. Certainly, they are the lesser of three "evils" (as the saying goes).

Just check everything that is done (good advice always), especially anything oil related. PM me if you want details, I am not real big about spreading dealer names and reputations all over the internet.

Question

I'm going in tomorrow to see if I can make a deal on an 8. Do you think the deal will or should fix all the TSB's and Recall's that are out before I take delivery? In order to make a sale they should.. Any opinons?

I still have yet to receive any of the recall notices that I have been reading about on here. So far as I know it, there are only two other RX-8s in the neighborhood (county). Why so long a delay especially if it's a safety issue? I know I am in the VIN ranges of these.

According to the law, all of the recalls must be fixed before they can sell it. They first issued a hold for sale on these last two, if I remember correctly.
