Missing Throttle Body

Has anyone noticed that the production RX-8 only have one TB and all the pics of the pre-produciton motors show it with two separate TB's, one small one large?

Check out :

and compare to your engine

...maybe because that's a display engine, and hence had a lot of the rather large intake hardware "trimmed", it left the two primary intake tracts open, and they decided that fitting two TB's would look cooler than just two open holes...???

It looks to me that the intake manifold that is on the produciton engine is quite a bit lower than the dual setup seen in the pics.

The single TB that is on the produciton engine looks quite a bit larger than either of the two shown in the pics as well.

Just seems a bit odd to me that they would have designed it like that to begin with and then changed to a single TB.

I figure the flow of air could be controlled quite well with the double TB.

The dual TB was a "proof of concept" design that later became the SSV (secondary shutter valves)
