Midpipe without CEL?

Hey guys- I'm sure it's already written about somewhere on here, but I just can't find it (I'm a bit high). Is there any way to put in a midpipe and make it so you don't have a CEL? Thanks in advance for no comments about black tape thx

I just installed my midpipe about two days ago. fired the bad boy up and now cel, by the way it sounds awesome. Then lastnite I was on my way home on the highwayand sure enough the cel light came on. In some 8's it dosen't come on and others it does. I am not sure if you can have the light turned off without having to go to the dealership but if so I would like to know. I have also done a search on this can't really find anything. Regardless of the cel light I love this mod, by the way the flames it shoots are SAAAAWEEEET!

yes you can turn it off, temporally, but it comes back to haunt you.

This will get rid of the CEL light from an 02 sensor code. You'll need to know how many lead wires are coming off the rear o2 sensor, then buy the appropriate "universal" and wire it in. It's a relatively simply process. I have done it for my offroad truck (Nissan Frontier) after putting on headers & straight pipes.

Oddly enough, the electrical splice-in simulators never work for me on any vehicle. The physical "spacer" simulators have worked well on several vehicles. Even they will not work on my rx8, though. The code comes up within just a few hours of driving time even after cleared.

I dont like having warning lights lit up unless it's really necessary. Just personal preference of mine, I like for everything on my cars to work right if possible.

IF the midpipe gave us 25hp and 15ftlb then it would be worthwhile. Hell, on my car (an AT) the MP arguably made the car slower on the ol' butt dyno. I think I lost most of the useable torque across the board and gained 1hp and 3/4ftlb at redline, which to me isn't worth having the light stare me in the face at night. I will probably take my MP back off until I get an engine swap of some sort done.

the car has a few self tests, so unless you hit the requirements, you might be able to avoid it for a short time. I usually had the CEL pop up after 15 miles though.

Once I had a turbo on my car, I no longer got the CEL for the missing cat. It was like this with the EMU, and remains this way with the int-x. If I recall correctly, I think MM has similar results.

So install a turbo.

have noticed that the aftermarket midpipes tend to have the sensor a long way away from the manifold . Mine is right by the flange - could be a clue
