Metal rotary oil cap too hot for gasket?

Purchased the metal oil cap from RotaryStuff.com. I knew it would get extremely hot but now am wondering if it will shorten the life of the rubber gasket. With that kind of heat it seems like it would have to be inspected and changed periodically.
