Lucas 2 stroke Oil

Hey all, i was in pep boys the other day and i was looking at 2 stroke oil and decided to give it a try. I got 1:50, semi synthetic low ash 2 stroke oil. it is a mix that calls for 1 bottle per 2.5 gallons but i just run 1 bottle per full tank.

From what i can hear/ feel i love it.

car idles quieter and smoother.
also in the cold mornings it just seems to sound, rev smoother. maybe its just snake oil but i think it is a nice thing for the car. hopefully i'm not hurting anything.

if anyone has any questions or comments feel free to express.

also its $2.50 per bottle. gas mileage didn't seem to chang but i'm only on 3rd tank with it.

also with the quieter engien it makes me wonder if the metering pump pumps enough oil for the car?

and if it matters i use royal purple on oil changes.

and finally the reason i decided to do this is because later last year i lost an engine due to a bad metering pump and lack of oil in engine so i figured this is kinda like insurance

all know i like pre mix--but a thought--does premix in low concentrations affect the fuel filter?

Arrow Lucas...

Lucas is pretty good stuff, but if I was only looking at their lineup I would go with the Upper Cylinder Lubricant.

If you check the specs on the site, you will see that a lot of the 2-stroke's lubricity comes from polybutene, you don't need the heavy "bright stock" mineral oil that's in the mix, or the "ashless" additive package. The UCL is pure PB, smoke free, ash free (0) and can actually remove carbon buildup.

^ ah the force is strong in this one ^ that is a good idea but from what i see the upper cylinder lube is basically an oily fuel injector cleaner i just wanted a lil extra oil in there

I am not such a big fan of Lucas UCL although some are - I would look at Lube Control FP60 or FP3000 and read the following thread from BITOG (specifically Terry Dyson's comments from Dyson Analysis)
