Loss of power past ~6500 rpm??!!

About 3 wks ago, I got a CEL. Took it in to the dealership and had it re-flashed with I'm assuming the new R flash. Car was running normally until today. It seems like once I go past about 6500 rpm in any gear, the speed is just increasing at a snails pace. Whereas this use to be where I felt the greatest pull, now it just seems to be crawling forward. I noticed it when I was cruising at about 75-80 in 6th, dropped it into 3rd (rev matched of course), and I seemed to be holding 75 mph for ever. Got to a straightway and tried to redline each gear (through 4th) same thing happened. Any ideas???

it could be a clogged cat converter. Next time you are driving and it happens go right to the dealer and have a service manager road test it with you in the car.

I had exactly the same problem and it turned out to be the cat converter. The core has collapsed. It had to be changed..

Was that covered under the warranty? Also, what do you think might have triggered it?

Have them check your spark plugs. I had the same problem fixed with hot plugs. Dealership said one of my plugs was fouled and the others almost were.
