Lights don't blink with door locking/un

Took my car to the dealer today. Not only did they not fix the issue but they also dirtied up the head board and inside, scratched up the entry door step, and put two small scratches on the hood!!! I and they pretty much fixed all these issues but now my hazards don't flash when I lock/unlock the car....What the----did they do now...any ideas?

Is your trunk slightly open? The lights will not flash if the trunk is open. It could be open very slightly without you noticing it. Check it out.

Sounds like the door-ajar light not come on if the car is on and the trunk is wide open? If not, I hope Mazda fixes this in future RX-8s.

I had the same problem and it puzzled me for days. I was going to take the car in. Glad I had to get something out of my truck that morning.

i had the same problem, except that my trunk was not open. went on a road trip last weekend and part way thru on fri i noticed that it didnt seem to blink. however, i was at an angle and it was very sunny so i figured that just drowned it out. didnt drive it much until monday, where i confirmed that the blinkers werent working, but the locks were. at my first stop for gas on the way back home they were working again. trunk was never opened or closed during this period, anyone ever seen this?

Yea actually my trunk was closed but when I recycled open then closed that fixed it. There may be a bad switch problem.

Verified the door-ajar light does not come on when the trunk is open. Mazda engineers, how could you overlook this? Fix it for 2005 please.

I don't think any car i've been in had a door adjar light for the trunk. Its a trunk, not a door. The closest would be our explorer who's interior lights i think would come on.

Duh! It's the door to the trunk . The engine compartment has a door too - called the hood.

door : "A movable structure used to close off an entrance, typically consisting of a panel that swings on hinges or that slides or rotates."

On the RX-8, both hood and trunk have open/closed door switches that are already wired to the alarm/remote receiver computer. A bit more logic and minor change in the dashboard display is all that's missing.

Guess you've never owned a Honda or other real car? Usually the dashboard has a symbol of a car with two/four doors and a trunk and the section corresponding to the open door or trunk lid lights up when left open.

Accord Specs: "Door-/Trunk-Open Indicator Light.
