knocking noise

I did some search but can't find anything on this topic. I can feel and hear this "knock" noise during the transition from Reverse to Forward. Is this normal? Feels like it's from LSD, but I am not sure. Any opinion?

Have the dealer check the engine and tranny mounts. Those are known to go bad on RX8 and when they do, there are vibrations at idle and shift noises.

Does this happen only once when you first start off? Like backing out of your driveway and then shifting to first gear? If so, it's your ABS doing it calibration thingy and it's normal. If it happens every time you go from reverse to forward, take it in to a dealer for troubleshooting. Good luck on that.

Go48,

Thanks, that is exactly what's happening to my 8. Thanks for the info, I feel much better now. Just got it few weeks ago, glad I have u guys to come to for things like this.

I will ask the dealership to check them during the first service.

You're welcome. Nothing to really check out if the noise is the ABS calibration thingy as I described.

I love this site! I was about to ask the same question. But then a voice in my head that sounded strangely like Mugato said: Search!
