second key qustions

 

If the key is cut properly it should open the trunk and doors. The programing should only affect the ignition.

 

so went to my local mazda to get a second key cut $ 140. unlocked my car with my old key they told me that the new key is in the cup holder not a problem.grabbed the new key and started the ignition no problem. drove home and must have hit the locks on the way out. went to on lock the doors and the key does ont unlock the doors or trunk,old keys just sittin on the driverside seat taunting me


call a tow truck to break into my car 60$. I would have hoped for 140 dollars mazda would check both the ing and doors wondering if i should bring it back and complain

 

I think you shouldve called mazda right there and had them call and pay for someone to pop it open. I would still go back and talk to them, bring your receipt and explain your situation. Probably wont be paid for the locksmith opening your car but you can at least try.

 

Sounds like Mazda cut your key wrong either that or your ignition tumbler is different than that of the doors and trunk. Very strange!
