which intake is best for vented hoods?
i always read that vented hoods work sorta hand in hand with intakes... cant figure out which kind though.. would an aem intake be good?
also dose it matter where the vents are?
also will it be even a slight much increase in power? even though just an intake is really just for soubnd?

So from what I understand of the above, basically the short air rams that were considered "bad" in the hot engine environment is a bit better under a vented hood?
I'd also assume the ones with the vents in the center areas of the hood (not the ones towards the side) are better. There's less stuff in the way.

Even if you have a vented hood a SRI intake will still pull in hot air. Especially while at idle.
IMO they are a waste of money unless you don't mind losing performance and want a LOUD intake.

Vented hoods have shown to lower engine temps and will "help" if you have a SRI. Vent placement is important but not as much as vent design. For example the TS hood with the vents located on the side are angled so as the air flows over the hood it creates a lower air pressure in the sill of the vent. This in turn "sucks" the hot air out from under the hood.
So lets say it lowers engine temps by 15 degree's... Well your K&N will now intake air that is 15 degree's colder compared to before the vented hood.
However if you had a AEM or Mazdaspeed intake that was receiving air from behind the bumper then getting a vented hood is really not going to have much an effect on the intake air temps.

The vented hoods on the RX8 are not designed to cool down intake air temps, but bring down temps in the engine bay. The best intakes for the RX8 with or without a vented hood are; Racing Beat Intake and Duct, AEM, or Mazdaspeed. Yes if you had a K&N intake which pretty much pulls air from the engine bay then a vented hood would help.

I say stock. I've realized that stock is always better unless you go FI, because there are no gains to be made and all it does is make your car LOUD... Its why I took mine off, I would say save it and put it towards suspension or something of the sort. Just my opinion. Good luck
