Installing Midpipe

Hi guys,

I have a used RP midpipe coming with no gaskets or bolts. I also have a Mazdaspeed Cat back exhaust on its way. What extra bits do I need to make it all fit? I am aware I need a dounut gasket which I will source from my local Mazda dealer but what about bolts? Does the MS exhaust come with bolts to bolt onto the midpipe and a gasket for that end? Can I re-use the old bolts connecting the midpipe to the downpipe/manifold?

Thanks,

Waz

Get a new manifold to midpipe gasket...they are less than $10 and the old one will leak if re-used.......the midpipe to exaust gasket can be re-used lots of times...it will be OK

bolts...get some that fit anywhere....Home depot, autoparts store......

Red face Tip....

A little tip to make the job much easier - the header/midpipe nuts only undo from the front, the bolt is splined into the cat midpipe piece, you will be there all day!!

You also have to take BOTH the cross-brace pieces off to get the cat out, no way around it.

WTF are you talking about Stealth

The RP pipe doesn't have splined studs, it uses regular bolts. I already told you the size; 10mm diameter x 30mm long with nuts and lockwashers, they should be stainless steel, you will need to buy them at someplace that sells fasteners like a hardware store or something, I don't know what the equivalent is over there

I don't think they have Home Depot in Scotland guys ...

Arrow Thanks....

Thanks for the nice WTF post, but he has a midpipe "coming", which would imply he has a stock setup, at present.

With splined bolts in the stock cat.

He also wanted to know "can I reuse the bolts to the manifold?", so the answer would be; "not if the originals are stuck in the catpipe", right?

....and the tip about not trying to undo the splined bolts? .....also still applies.

So Mr. TeamRX, bite me.
