I hear fart sound over 5k

I just noticed this tonight. I took my car for a spin since I finally aimed my headlights. I heard a fart noise when I accelerated over 5k and I heard this multiple times and it sounds like its coming from the back and possibly from the exhaust. I was wondering if there is a leak on my exhaust?

Its called the "inertial gashious displacement effect" Essentially, the acceleration forces of the car when hitting above 5k are causing your bowels to expel excess and unnecessary vapor! Hope that explains it! :D If not....I haven't a clue!

maybe the motor knocking, possibly a piston valve.
or a camshaft out of place.

There is a reason for the Black Dragons name.

When you rev over 5K the injectors put out a richer mixture to increase power but due to the US requirements that the cat last a minimum time that map is set super rich to keep the exhaust temps down.

I discover just how rich the mix was when I removed the cat. When I rev the car over 65K then step on the clutch, I got a bit more than a fart sound, I got a 10 to 15' back flame. :D

I put in the piggy back ecu and retuned the car to a much leaner mix. Still puts out a fire every time I run the car to max RPM but not near as big.

But that is what is going on. Won't hurt the car. Means that you are putting out a bit of flame when you shift at high RPM is all.

A lot of people where asking how to get the RX8 to flame. Just take out the cat and run up the RPMs and you will get all the flame you would ever want.

Have fun.

Sounds like a normal backfire and it is caused by you driving to slow. All the carbon build up due to rich mixture.

If you run it to Redline enough it shouldn't fart.

Let me get this straight. You got someone to tweek your headlights. Then, after getting more than halfway there, a most embarassing fartlike noise was heard eminating from your third party's exhaust. Multiple times.

That's a very strange and unfortunate thing to experience.

And if the trend should reveal that these unfortunate episodes have the added danger in that they are expelled in flames, I would have that situation rectumfied asap, before you get your tail hairs burnt.

Reminds me of a hairlip joke. This hairlip goes into a brothel. Not being very well to do, he could only afford a 69. Not even knowing what that was, the fair lady assists him into the position, and they begin. Suddenly, the fair lady experiences one of those most embarassing moments. He says "hewwwweee!!!" She plays it off like she doesn't know what his reaction was about. He says "Oh, nevermind" and they resume. After a while, again, she breaks wind. And again, he says, "HEWWWWEEE!!!" She asks, rather sternly this time, what was the matter? He says, "Oh, that's alright, but I just don't know if I can take another 67 more of those."

bah-dump-dump.

I think it went away. Normally I have my music loud enough that I cant hear the exhaust. Tomorrow I'll try to listen. Oh I havent gas up yet so I might still have the bad gas in there.

Not only is it normal, there a few RX8 Drivers who are going out of their way to find out how to get the 8 to emit flames on command so to speak.

It is far easier than one would think. Take out the cat and install a racing pipe, run the car to 65K or more and step on the clutch. The map is set so rich due to the requirements for longevity of the cat you get some spectacular fireworks.

Now you now how the Dragon got its name. It spits fire at anyone who gets to close.

If you can't beat them, incinerate the competition. :D
